Kelce to injured reserve; McDougald elevated

Kelce to injured reserve; McDougald elevated

Herbie Teope October 12, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs announced two roster moves Saturday, placing rookie tight end Travis Kelce on injured reserve and elevating rookie safety Bradley McDougald from the practice squad to the 53-man active roster.

Kelce, one of the team’s two third-round picks of the 2013 NFL Draft, underwent arthroscopic knee surgery earlier in the week.

He battled a knee injury since training camp and never saw regular-season action.

McDougald joined the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of the University of Kansas in May 2013. While he was active in Week Two, McDougald has yet to see playing time.

The elevation of McDougald also provides depth in the defensive secondary with starting safety Kendrick Lewis (ankle) listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders.
