[Publisher’s note, Oct. 16, 2014: Post is corrected to reflect six players on the injury, not the previously published five. Cornerback Sean Smith (groin) was limited in Wednesday’s practice.]

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs list six players on the initial injury report for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers.

And it appears strong safety Eric Berry (ankle) is on the path to make a return after missing the last three games.

The Chiefs list Berry as a limited participant in Wednesday’s practice, and he practiced Monday.

“He came back and he felt good,” coach Andy Reid said of Berry’s Monday workout. “So, I’m pretty good with him today and we’ll see how it goes from there.”

Running back Cyrus Gray (hand) and cornerback Chris Owens (knee) did not practice Wednesday, but Reid appeared optimistic with Gray.

“Most likely he’s going to practice on Friday,” Reid said, “and he’ll be out these next couple of days.”

Gray was observed going through the stretching portion of practice, which is open to the media. He was not, however, in pads and wore a baseball cap.

The Chiefs list rookie cornerback Phillip Gaines (concussion) as a full participant.

Wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin) has already been ruled out for Sunday’s game. Avery underwent a sports hernia procedure on Oct. 3.

The Chargers list 11 players on the injury report. Former Chiefs, current Chargers cornerback Brandon Flowers (groin) did not practice Wednesday.
