Week 5: Wednesday injury report

Week 5: Wednesday injury report

Herbie Teope October 2, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs have the largest injury list of the season, listing 14 players on Wednesday’s official NFL Injury Report as the team prepares for the Tennessee Titans.

Running back Jamaal Charles (blisters) headlines the players not practicing, which includes right tackle Eric Fisher (concussion), cornerback Brandon Flowers (knee), tight end Travis Kelce (knee) and safety Kendrick Lewis (ankle).

Coach Andy Reid said Flowers is still “working on getting the inflammation out of his knee.”

Flowers was observed in pads and participating in warmups during Wednesday’s portion of practice open to media.

Listed as limited participants are starting guards Jeff Allen (groin) and Jon Asamoah (knee), punter Dustin Colquitt (knee), starting tight end Anthony Fasano (knee, ankle), starting center Rodney Hudson (shin) and tight end Sean McGrath (knee)

“Dustin Colquitt is making progress and should be OK for Sunday,” Reid said.

Fasano missed Week Four, so getting him on the field for practice this early in the week could signal he’s ready to return. McGrath has filled in admirably in Fasano’s place, notching his first touchdown pass of the season during Week Four’s 31-7 win against the New York Giants.

The Chiefs list cornerback Marcus Cooper (knee, thigh), linebacker James-Michael Johnson (thumb) and fullback Anthony Sherman (knee) as full participants.

Tennessee has eight players on the initial report.
