Week 15: Wednesday injury report

Herbie Teope December 11, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs list eight players on the initial NFL Injury Report ahead of Sunday’s road contest against the Oakland Raiders.

And the report bears apparent good news for two starters, both of whom missed Week 14.

Tight end Anthony Fasano (concussion, knee) and outside linebacker Justin Houston (elbow) put in a limited practice Wednesday.

Houston missed two games since suffering his injury in Week 12 against the San Diego Chargers, while Fasano sustained his concussion in Week 13 against the Denver Broncos.

Frank Zombo, who had a sack in Week 14, has started in Houston’s place, while Sean McGrath filled in for Fasano.

Meanwhile, starting left tackle Branden Albert continues to recover from a hyperextended knee suffered in Week 13. Albert didn’t practice Wednesday, and he missed all practices last week.

If Albert is unavailable for a second straight week, the Chiefs will likely stick with second-year pro Donald Stephenson to fill the void in Albert’s place on the left side of the offensive line.

Listed as full participants for Wednesday’s practice are cornerback Marcus Cooper (back), center Rodney Hudson (elbow),  McGrath (knee), cornerback Ron Parker (shoulder) and fullback Anthony Sherman (knee, ankle).

The Raiders list 12 players on the initial report, headlined by running back Darren McFadden, who did not practice with an ankle injury.

Other notable Oakland players on Wednesday’s report include wide receiver Denarius Moore (shoulder, limited) and running back Rashad Jennings (concussion, full participant).
