Week 1: Wednesday injury report

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs defensive tackle Dontari Poe (back) is on track to potentially play the season opener on the road against the Houston Texans.

Poe was observed in full pads during the 20-minute period open to the media, and he is officially listed by the Chiefs as a full participant.

The potential return of Poe is remarkable when considering he underwent back surgery on July 15, missed all of training camp and didn’t participate in the four preseason games.

The Chiefs also list guard Jeff Allen (knee), wide receiver Jason Avant (hip), wide receiver Chris Conley (knee), tackle Eric Fisher (ankle), tight end Demetrius Harris (foot), tight end Travis Kelce (ankle), linebacker Josh Mauga (Achilles), defensive lineman Rakeem Nunez-Roches (ankle), wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas (calf) and wide receiver Albert Wilson (shouder) as full participants.

Allen returns to the field after suffering his knee injury in the preseason opener, but it remains to be seen how he will eventually work in the offensive line rotation.

Kelce, who sustained a slight ankle sprain the final week of preseason, should be fine against Houston barring a setback.

The Texans list eight players on the initial report. Of note, outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (knee) practiced fully.

Wednesday’s official NFL Injury Report as released by the Chiefs:
