Thursday injury report: week 16

Thursday injury report: week 16

Matt Derrick December 22, 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs injury report remained quiet Thursday, but the name Justin Houston continued looming large among the two names listed not practicing.

img_3336-editHouston sit out practice for the second-straight day after coach Andy Reid said the team planned to back off on the veteran due to inflammation on his surgically repaired left knee. Reid called the issue commonplace and did not regard the swelling as a long-term problem for the linebacker.

Justin March-Lillard returned to practice this week, but the team does not yet list him on the practice report because he has yet to be activated to the 53-man roster.

The team designated the linebacker to return from injured reserve Wednesday. That provides up to two weeks of practice time before March-Lillard must be added to the roster.

Cornerback Phillip Gaines also remained out of practice. He continues to battle inflammation following his knee surgery similar to Houston.

Linebacker Tamba Hali participated in practice after a rest day on Wednesday.
