Chiefs Rule Out Mecole Hardman in Divisional Playoff vs. Jaguars

Chiefs Rule Out Mecole Hardman in Divisional Playoff vs. Jaguars

Matt Derrick January 21, 2023

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs head into Saturday’s Divisional Round playoff matchup against Jacksonville with a relatively clean injury report but they will be without wide receiver Mecole Hardman, who will miss his 10th game of the season with what the club now terms a pelvis issue.

Head coach Andy Reid said additional rest this week didn’t clear the path for Hardman’s return against the Jaguars.

“We backed off him just to see if we couldn’t get him back going this week, so he’ll most likely be listed as out going forward,” Reid before the injury report came out Thursday. “It’s not for lack of effort, it’s just the injury, and he’s working through it.”

Defensive end Frank Clark, who suffered a groin strain in the team’s regular-season finale, was a full participant on Thursday.

“He actually feels very good, and he practiced well today, and really yesterday,” Reid said.

Cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (hip) and wide receiver Skyy Moore (hand) were the only other Chiefs players on the injury report. Both were full participants in practice this week and expect to play Saturday.

Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire (ankle) and tight end Jody Fortson (elbow) both returned to practice this week but the club does not plan to add either player to the active roster before Saturday.

Jacksonville lists six players as questionable for Saturday, including quarterback Trevor Lawrence who has a toe injury. He expects to play, however, as does center Luke Fortner (back) and right guard Brandon Scherff) (abdomen).
