Chiefs place RB Joe McKnight, CB David Van Dyke on PUP list

Herbie Teope July 21, 2014

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – The Chiefs announced Monday running back Joe McKnight and cornerback David Van Dyke were placed on the physically unable to perform (PUP) list.

McKnight had his knee scoped following mandatory minicamp, while Van Dyke dealt with a hamstring injury throughout organized team activities (OTAs) and minicamp.

Both players can sit out the start of training camp, and will be allowed to return to practice once they receive medical clearance.

McKnight, a fourth-year pro, entered training camp with an opportunity to compete for the No. 3 running back spot and returner. The Chiefs signed him to a reserve/future deal in early January.

Van Dyke, an undrafted free agent out of Tennessee State, is one of 11 cornerbacks on the roster.

McKnight was present on the practice field Monday morning and observed the team without his helmet. Van Dyke was not present.
