Chiefs LB Dee Ford, WR Sammy Watkins Questionable Against Jaguars on Sunday

Matt Derrick October 7, 2018

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs head to Sunday's game unsure if linebacker Dee Ford and Sammy Watkins will play against the Jacksonville Jaguars, with both players listed as questionable for the game.

Ford suffered a groin injury in Week 3 against San Francisco, and the injury limited him in Monday night's win over Denver. Watkins left Monday's game with a hamstring injury. Both players were limited in practice all week.

Soggy field conditions, however, could certainly play a factor with the playing time for both Ford and Watkins. The forecast indicates rain likely before and during the contest on Sunday. That would create conditions unfavorable to two players favoring leg injuries.

The team listed safety Eric Berry (heel) as doubtful but he appears unlikely to play. Safety Armani Watts (groin) carries a questionable designation but he practiced in full on Friday.

Defensive end Chris Jones (shoulder), wide receiver Chris Conley (ankle), center Mitch Morse (back) all practiced in full this week and expect to play Sunday.

The Jaguars ruled out running back Leonard Fournette earlier in the week with a hamstring injury. His backup, T.J. Yelden, missed some practice time this week but returned to a full work load on Friday.

Jacksonville also ruled out backup cornerback D.J. Hayden (toe). Rookie cornerback and special teams player Tre Herndon (hamstring) appears questionable.

The Jaguars had several other starters miss practice time this week but all practiced in full on Friday. That group includes defensive end Calais Campbell (ankle), center Brandon Linder (knee/back), left guard Andrew Norwell (foot), right tackle Jeremy Parnell (knee) and right guard A.J. McCann (triceps and tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins (core muscle injury).
