Chiefs Jamaal Charles inactive versus Texans

Running back Jamaal Charles remains on the sideline for one more week, heading the list of inactives for the Chiefs ahead of their noon kickoff against the Houston Texans.

The Chiefs also will go without starting left guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif and starting right guard Parker Ehinger.

Also inactive for the Chiefs: quarterback Tyler Bray, wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas, cornerback Kenneth Acker and linebacker Sam Barrington.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday morning that Charles expects to make his return next week against the New York Jets.

The Chiefs listed all other players from Friday’s practice report active for Sunday’s game. That includes linebacker Tamba Hali (knee) and Spencer Ware (toe).

Defensive end J.J. Watt is listed active for the Texans. He was listed as limited in practice during the week but was expected to play.

The biggest loss for the Texans is linebacker Brian Cushing. He injured his knee last week against Chicago and is expected to miss several weeks. Even without Cushing, the Texans picked up five sacks and 13 quarterback hurries against the Bears.

Inactive players for the Texans: QB Brandon Weeden, linebacker Brain Cushing, tackle Duane Brown, offensive lineman Oday Aboushi, defensive end Joel Heath, wide receiver Keith Mumphrey and safety Eddie Pleasant and .
