KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Tuesday’s NFL Transactions report will show the Chiefs had a busy day.

The Chiefs announced numerous transactions ahead of the report’s release, among them activating wide receiver Dwayne Bowe from the reserve/suspension list and placing linebacker Derrick Johnson (Achilles) and defensive end Mike DeVito (Achilles) on injured reserve.

Bowe returns after serving a one-game suspension for violating the NFL’s policy on substance abuse.

The Chiefs also officially announced the signing of defensive tackle Kevin Vickerson, who provides immediate depth with DeVito out for the season. The Vickerson signing was independently confirmed earlier Tuesday morning by ChiefsSpin.com through a league source.

The other active roster move surrounded the activation of linebacker Jerry Franklin from the practice squad to the 53-man roster to provide depth with Johnson on injured reserve. Franklin receives the promotion over Nico Johnson, who was the Chiefs’ fourth-round draft pick of the 2013 NFL Draft.

The activation of Bowe, elevation of Franklin from the practice squad and signing of Vickerson meant the Chiefs had to free up one more active roster position after placing Johnson and DeVito on injured reserve.

To accommodate the final spot, the Chiefs waived strong safety Daniel Sorensen, an undrafted free agent out of Brigham Young University. Sorensen made the initial 53-man roster after a strong training camp. The Chiefs are left with safeties Eric Berry, Husain Abdullah, Kelcie McCary and Kurt Coleman on the active roster.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs tweaked the practice squad with five signings and four waivers.

The Chiefs made it official by announcing the signings of wide receiver Armon Binns and tight end Adam Schiltz. Both signings were earlier confirmed by various sources with ChiefsSpin.com.

The additional practice squad signings are 6-6, 310-pound offensive tackle Curtis Feigt; 6-1, 195-pound cornerback Robert Steeples; and 6-2, 308-pound defensive tackle Jerel Worth, a former 2012 second-round pick out of Michigan State for the Green Bay Packers.

Feight played collegiately at West Virginia, Steeples played collegiately at Memphis.

To make room for the players on the practice squad, the Chiefs waived fullback Jordan Campbell, defensive tackle Hebron Fangupo, center Ben Gottschalk and wide receiver Darryl Surgent.

Campbell, Gottschalk and Surgent spent training camp with the Chiefs.
