KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs continue to tinker with the roster, but this time on the opposite end of signing a player.
The Chiefs announced Friday the release of veteran cornerback Dunta Robinson after just one season.

Robinson, who signed a three-year, $13.8 million free-agent contract with the Chiefs in March 2013, eventually gave way at the No. 3 cornerback spot to rookie Marcus Cooper as the season progressed.
With Robinson’s release, the Chiefs save a little more than $3 million in salary cap space.
Originally signed to bolster depth in the secondary, the 10-year pro appeared in eight regular season games with two starts for the Chiefs.
Robinson was inactive for three games.
While he found more playing time late in the season as Cooper’s play also faltered, Robinson’s overall performance proved a disappointment.
Robinson, 31, finished the 2013 regular season recording 13 tackles, all solo, four passes defensed and a fumble recovery.
He entered the league out of South Carolina as a former first-round pick (10th overall) of the Houston Texans in 2004.
Prior to joining the Chiefs, Robinson spent three seasons with the Atlanta Falcons (2010-12).
Notes: The Chiefs also announced the signing of former CFL wide receiver Weston Dressler … The announcement is a formality considering Dressler previously appeared on Tuesday’s official NFL Transaction report as being signed by the Chiefs.
