KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs on Tuesday signed defensive tackle Jerrell Powe, according to the NFL Transactions report.

To make room on the roster for Powe, the Chiefs cut ties with defensive tackle Kyle Love, who signed on Nov. 19.

The Chiefs originally selected Powe in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft out of Mississippi. The 6-foot-2, 335-pound defensive tackle totaled five tackles and an assist in 2012.

The team released Powe during the final rounds of cuts before the start of the 2013 regular season.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs also brought back rookie fullback Toben Opurum, signing him to the practice squad.

Kansas City previously released Opurum from the practice squad in Week 12.
