KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs head athletic trainer Rick Burkholder addressed the media Friday and provided an update on outside linebacker Justin Houston’s elbow.

Below is a full transcript:

“So with Justin, you guys know that last Sunday he dislocated his elbow and it reduced itself back on the field. And then when we got him Monday morning, it was very swollen.

We weren’t able to do an MRI until Wednesday because of the swelling and we couldn’t get him in a good position to do the MRI.

The MRI reveals what we thought it would reveal and that is he’s got some ligament damage in his elbow and he’s got some muscle damage in his elbow, which is normal for a dislocation.

He’s going through the process right now, we’re just trying to get his range of motion, trying to get his swelling down, he’s in a brace and he’s truly week-to-week.

Now he won’t play this weekend and we’ll take this weekend and treat him, rehab him, and then Monday we’ll regroup as a staff and see where he’s at.”

With Houston out, veteran linebacker Frank Zombo is expected to draw the start for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

Meanwhile, the Chiefs have good news on outside linebacker Tamba Hali, who practiced for a second straight day.

Hali told reporters during Friday’s locker room media session that’s he’s “ready to go.”

Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Hali would be listed as questionable.
