Week 12: Thursday injury report

Herbie Teope November 21, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs officially list four starters as not practicing Thursday.

Defensive ends Mike DeVito (knee) and Tyson Jackson (abdomen) are joined by right tackle Eric Fisher (shoulder) and right guard Jon Asamoah (shoulder) as sitting out.

DeVito and Asamoah were observed wearing helmets and participating in Thursday’s portion of warm-up drills open to the media. However, they apparently were not given the green light to participate in practice.

Asamoah practiced in a limited fashion Wednesday before Thursday’s designation.

If he and Fisher aren’t available for Sunday’s game against the San Diego Chargers, the Chiefs will likely turn to backups Geoff Schwartz and Donald Stephenson.

The Chiefs list defensive end Mike Catapano (ankle), defensive back Sanders Commings (shoulder), tight end Anthony Fasano (knee, ankle), linebacker Derrick Johnson (wrist) and fullback Anthony Sherman (knee) as full participants for a second straight day.

Barring a setback, that group of players should be available for Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Chargers continue to list 11 players on their report.

Of note, starting center Nick Hardwick put in a limited practice Thursday after being a full participant the previous day.

San Diego starting running back Ryan Mathews (hamstring) and starting linebacker Manti Te’o (elbow) put in a full practice for a second straight day.
