NFL invites fans to share stories

Herbie Teope September 19, 2013

Football fans on average give a lot to a sport they adore and now the NFL wants to recognize that passion.

The NFL on Thursday announced the launching of “Together We Make Football – Your Story,” a call to fans to share stories of how they were touched by the game and why they love it.

The league’s initiative is designed for multiple platforms during the NFL season.

Based on submissions, five winners will be selected to be honored during a nationally televised NFL Films documentary in New York and New Jersey at Super Bowl XLVII, according to the news release.

Interested parties are invited to upload a video of up to five minutes at the recently launched digital community site, TogetherWeMakeFootball.com.

Fans can also submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words accompanied by up to five images in lieu of the video, according to the news release.

Stories submitted through Nov. 5 will be entered in the contest that will eventually determine the winning entries.

Upon the deadline, an NFL panel will select 10 finalists whose stories will air in short features by NFL Films. The segments are scheduled to be aired during Thanksgiving weekend and throughout December.

Fans will have a vote on the finalist story through Dec. 23.

The five winners are scheduled to be announced during the NFL Playoffs.
