Charles dealing with ‘quad contusion’

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Kansas City can let out a collective sigh of relief.

Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles, who left Sunday’s win against the Jacksonville Jaguars with a quad injury, appears to be OK, coach Andy Reid told reporters during his Monday media session.

“Jamaal has a quad contusion,” Reid said. “He does have a range of motion, but we’ll just see how he does here over this week.”

The Chiefs and Charles have a week to prepare for Week Two’s home opener at Arrowhead Stadium against the Dallas Cowboys.

The team is off on Tuesday and returns to the practice field on Wednesday.

An extra day of rest could benefit Charles as he recovers. The good news is the team’s star running back is getting around.

“He is moving around today,” Reid said. “He’s OK.”

The Chiefs currently have running backs Cyrus Gray and rookie Knile Davis behind Charles.
