inner Bruno Mars is scheduled to perform during the Pepsi Super Bowl XLVIII halftime show, the NFL announced on Sunday via a news release.
Mars first made the announcement during a live pregame show on FOX NFL Sunday.
The announcement, which the NFL labeled as “unprecedented,” apparently is the start of more to come. Fans are asked to watch FOX Sports through the season to discover the other surprises Mars has for the Pepsi Super Bowl halftime show, the NFL said.
Mars is the latest halftime act to follow other heavyweight A-list entertainers in recent years. He follows the likes of Beyoncé, Madonna, The Who, Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Prince, the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney and U2.
The Pepsi Super Bowl XLVII is an NFL Network production and will be executive produced by Ricky Kirshner and directed by Hamish Hamilton, the NFL said.
