Tyreek Hill Misses Practice for Personal Reasons, Tyrann Mathieu Limited Tuesday

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs returned to their training complex in Kansas City in resuming preseason workouts on Tuesday without two starters, one on each side of the ball.

Wide receiver Tyreek Hill was excused from practice for personal reasons, but head coach Andy Reid expects him back Wednesday. Safety Tyrann Mathieu, who left Saturday's game early with a shoulder injury, participated in stretching stretching drills but not take part in any team sessions during the workout.

“Tyrann Mathieu, he practiced partially today, so he's doing OK,” Reid said.

Defensive line Breeland Speaks, who left Saturday's game with a knee injury, also sat out practice. He observed the workout from the sideline while wearing a compression sleeve on his right leg.

“Speaks is still being evaluated with his knee,” Reid said.

Tight end Deon Yelder suffered an ankle sprain Saturday against Pittsburgh and also sat out Tuesday's practice. Joining him on the sidelines were wide receiver Gehrig Dieter (back) tight end John Lovett (shoulder) and cornerback Michael Hunter (groin).

“They are making progress, but they didn't practice today,” Reid said.

The club officially placed wide receiver Marcus Kemp on injured reserve, clearing the way for the addition of wide receiver Jalen Tolliver. Wide receiver Davon Grayson, who suffered a knee injury during training camp, started practice on the field as an observer, but exited when the club announced it was waiving him with an injury designation. That freed a roster space for the addition of receiver De'Anthony Thomas.

Linebacker Darius Harris (shoulder) remains on the non-football injury list.
