Report: Foxborough Police to Charge Patriots Fan Who Threw Beer at Tyreek Hill

NBC's Sunday Night Football broadcast appeared to capture video of a Patriots fan tossing a beer at Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill during New England's 43-40 win at Gillette Stadium on Oct. 14, 2018.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Foxborough, Massachusetts, Police Department has identified the New England Patriots fan who allegedly threw a beer at Chiefs wide receiver Tyreek Hill and plan to file charges, according to WBZ-TV in Boston.

The station reports police identified the suspect as a 21-year-old Mansfield, Massachusetts, resident. Authorities plan to charge him with disorderly conduct and throwing an object at a sporting event, according to the station.

The incident occurred in the fourth quarter after Hill caught a 75-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Patrick Mahomes. The score tied the game at 40-40 with just more than 3 minutes remaining in the game.

Hill ran through the end zone and approached the stands at Gillette Stadium. A number of fans yelled at Hill and several made obscene gestures at him. One fan appeared to throw a beer at Hill.

The announcement of the plan to file charges followed a report from ESPN's Adam Schefter, reported that Hill and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, wanted action taken against the fan and planned to take up the issue with the league and the NFL Players Association.

“That type of behavior is unacceptable,” Rosenhaus said according to Schefter. “Players have to be protected. We want that fan prosecuted.”

Earlier on Monday, the Patriots issued a statement saying the team had turned the matter over to local law enforcement and the fan would “be sent a letter of disinvite to all future events at Gillette Stadium.”
