Chiefs fighting cold bug heading into contest vs. Dolphins

Chiefs fighting cold bug heading into contest vs. Dolphins

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Injuries do not seem at the top of Kansas City’s concerns heading into Sunday’s game agains the Miami Dolphins, yet a few key players continue battling a cold bug that continues sweeping through the organization.

“We’ve got a little bit of the bug going through,” head coach Andy Reid said, with his voice showing signs of fighting through the same illness affecting some of his players. “Guys are working through it, they should be okay by game day.

Tight end Travis Kelce, linebacker Justin Houston and left tackle Eric Fisher all missed practice time this week with illness. Fisher returned to work on Thursday and Kelce hit the practice field Friday.

“I’m doing just fine now,” Kelce said. “I don’t know if it was coming through here where I got it or where I got it from, but I’m doing just fine now.”

The club listed Houston questionable for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. Club officials, however, expect Houston to play.

Houston and linebacker Tamba Hali were the only players missing practice Friday.

“Tamba didn’t practice, we went inside,” Reid said of the linebacker who typically does not work on artificial turf. “Had a good day yesterday.”

The Chiefs added one name to the injury listed on Friday. The club listed backup tight end Orson Charles with a knee injury, but he did take part fully in practice.

The Dolphins by contrast have a long list of question marks heading into Sunday’s game. The team listed eight players questionable or doubtful for the game.

That includes starters such as defense end Andre Branch, safety T.J. McDonald, cornerback Cordrea Tankersley and wide receiver DeVante Parker listed questionable. Running back Damien Williams and backup quarterback Matt Moore appear doubtful.

Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh missed two practices this week including Friday with a knee injury but expects to play against the Chiefs.
