KCCLogoThe new regime at One Arrowhead Drive has filled out since the end of the 2012 regular season saw the departures of Scott Pioli and Romeo Crennel.

Eight days after hiring Andy Reid to replace Crennel at the head coach position, the Chiefs on Saturday night announced the hiring of John Dorsey as general manager.

Dorsey, 52, joins the Chiefs from the Green Bay Packers, where he previously held the position of director of football operations. Prior to that post, he served two tours with the Packers as the director of college scouting, 2000-2012 and 1997-1998, and was a college scout from 1991-1997.

He spent the 1999 season with the Seattle Seahawks as the director of player personnel as part of Mike Holmgren’s staff.

Dorsey and Reid were also members of the Holmgren’s staff in Green Bay. New offensive coordinator Doug Pederson was a Packers backup quarterback under Holmgen.

Dorsey originally entered the NFL as a fourth-round pick of the Packers in 1984 as a linebacker out of Connecticut. He spent five seasons with the Packers where he also contributed on special teams before spending his final year in the league on injured reserve, according to his official bio.

The Chiefs are scheduled to formally introduce Dorsey as the sixth general manager in team history during a 2 p.m. CT press conference on Monday.
