KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs returned off the bye and hit the practice field Monday morning ahead of Week 10’s game against the Denver Broncos.

But the team was without starting left guard Ben Grubbs, who remains sidelined with a neck injury.

“We’re just taking Grubbs day-by-day here, we’ll just see,” coach Andy Reid said. “He’s making progress. We’ll just see where he goes here this week.”

Reid said Grubbs originally suffered the injury against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 7.

With Grubbs out of the lineup against the Detroit Lions in Week 8, the Chiefs moved Jeff Allen from right tackle to left guard and Jah Reid started at right tackle.

The Chiefs head coach said the starting offensive line would include those two players along with Eric Fisher at left tackle, rookie Mitch Morse at center and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif at right guard if Gubbs is unavailable Sunday.

“If Grubbs can’t go, then it will be that,” Reid said.

With Grubbs’ status in the air, the Chiefs did have good news on the injury front.

Defensive end Mike DeVito (concussion) and rookie inside linebacker Ramik Wilson (ankle) participated in Monday’s 10-10-10 workout, which is first-, second- and third-team units each getting 10 repetitions.

DeVito and Wilson suffered their respective ailments in Week 6 and haven’t played since, but appear set to return to action.
