KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Denver Broncos left Arrowhead Stadium with a victory over the Chiefs in Week 2.

Two Denver defensive players, however, are lighter in the wallet for their actions during the game.

The NFL fined outside linebacker DeMarcus Ware $17,363 for roughing the passer, while defensive end Malik Jackson was fined $8,681 for unnecessary roughness, a league spokesman confirmed Friday with ChiefsDigest.com.

Ware’s infraction occurred at the 10:50 mark of the first quarter.

Facing a first-and-15, Chiefs quarterback Alex Smith completed a 24-yard pass to tight end James O’Shaughnessy before Ware hit Smith below the knee area, which drew the 15-yard penalty.

Jackson drew his penalty at the 10:22 mark in the second quarter after hitting running back Jamaal Charles late following a 3-yard run on second-and-8. Charles would get his revenge two plays later with a 34-yard touchdown run.

Broncos outside linebacker Von Miller was not fined for his unnecessary roughness penalty, per the league spokesman.

Miller was penalized at the 11:11 mark of the second quarter after leveling Alex Smith behind the line of scrimmage despite the play blown dead before the snap.
