KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The bolstering of the Chiefs’ offseason roster continues.
The Chiefs signed defensive end Vaughn Martin to a free-agent contract, according to Monday’s NFL Transaction report.
The 6-4, 300-pound Martin entered the league out of Western Ontario as a fourth-round pick of the San Diego Chargers in the 2009 NFL Draft.
Martin, a native of Jamaica, played four seasons with the Chargers before signing with the Miami Dolphins in 2013.
He spent part of the 2014 offseason with the Detroit Lions before the Lions released him in June. Martin did not play during the 2014 season.
The 28-year-old Martin has appeared in 51 games with 27 starts on his career, totaling 79 tackles (47 solo) and three sacks.
The Chiefs have been adding to the offseason roster since the end of the regular season.
The Chiefs previously signed the following 19 players to reserve/future contracts: Tight end Brandon Barden, wide receiver Armon Binns, linebacker JoJo Dickson, defensive lineman Hebron Fangupo, offensive lineman Curtis Feight, guard Ricky Henry, long snapper Brandon Hartson, cornerback Aaron Hester, long snapper Jorgen Hus, wide receiver Corbin Louks, cornerback Deji Olatoye, quarterback Terrelle Pryor, offensive lineman Jarrod Pughsley, wide receiver Da’Rick Rogers, tight end Adam Schiltz, offensive tackle Derek Sherrod, running back Spencer Ware, wide receiver Fred Williams and defensive lineman Jerel Worthy.
