Week 5: Wednesday injury report

Herbie Teope October 1, 2014

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs list eight players on the initial injury report for Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin) and strong safety Eric Berry (ankle) did not practice. Avery suffered his injury during Monday night’s game, while Berry has missed two straight games with the ankle injury suffered in Week 2.

Running back Jamaal Charles, who was named the AFC Offensive Player of the Week, was limited with an ankle injury. The Chiefs will take it easy on Charles.

Joining Charles as limited in practice are cornerback Sean Smith (groin) and outside linebacker Tamba Hali (knee).

Meanwhile, rookie running back/wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas (hamstring) appears on track to potentially see action Sunday.

The Chiefs list Thomas as a full participant in Wednesday’s practice. Thomas has yet to play this season after suffering the hamstring injury on Sept. 3.

Cornerback Chris Owens (thumb) and linebacker Frank Zombo (hamstring) also practiced fully.

The 49ers list 12 players on the injury report.

Tight end Vernon Davis (back) did not practice, while running back Frank Gore (back) is listed as a full participant.
