Chiefs sign TE Adam Schiltz to practice squad

Chiefs sign TE Adam Schiltz to practice squad

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – A familiar face returned Tuesday.

The Chiefs are signing tight end Adam Schiltz to the practice squad, a source confirmed with ChiefsSpin.com.

The 24-year-old Schiltz spent time with the Chiefs during training camp after being claimed off waivers from the Tennessee Titans on July 26. Schiltz originally joined the Chiefs the same day the team officially announced tight end Sean McGrath’s retirement.

The Chiefs waived Schiltz as part of the initial personnel cuts on Aug. 25 to trim the roster from 90 players to 75 players. Schiltz did not record a preseason catch.

Schiltz, who measures 6-4, 256 pounds, entered the league in 2013 as an undrafted free agent out of Emporia State with the Houston Texans. He spent the 2013 season on the Titans practice squad.

The Chiefs started the regular season with a full 10-man practice squad, but have signed wide receiver Armon Binns and Schiltz to the squad in the past day.

While the Chiefs haven’t confirmed the two practice squad additions, the team will need to make room to accommodate the signings.
