Chiefs sign G Zach Fulton

Chiefs sign G Zach Fulton

Herbie Teope May 13, 2014

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs announced Tuesday evening the signing of rookie offensive lineman Zach Fulton, who was the first of two sixth-round picks (193rd overall) of the 2014 NFL Draft.

Fulton, who is listed at 6-foot-5, 323 pounds, becomes the first of the Chiefs’ six draft picks to sign a contract. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

A native of Homewood, Ill., Fulton appeared in 47 games at Tennessee where he started three straight seasons (2011-13), including 40 games at right guard.

The SEC recognized Fulton as the Offensive Lineman of the Week on Sept. 3, 2012, making him the first Volunteer to earn the award since 2009.

Fulton, who reunites with his Volunteer quarterback Tyler Bray in Kansas City, should compete for the Chiefs’ current vacant right guard position.

But Fulton said during Saturday’s media conference call he’ll line up wherever the Chiefs deem appropriate.

“I’m just going to play wherever they want me to play,” Fulton said. “That’s all I have to think about right now.”

Meanwhile, the remaining members of the Chiefs’ 2014 draft class yet to sign are outside linebacker Dee Ford, cornerback Phillip Gaines, running back De’Anthony Thomas, quarterback Aaron Murray and left tackle Laurent Duvernay-Tardif.
