KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs re-signed tight end Richard Gordon to a one-year contract earlier in the week, Gordon’s agent confirmed Friday in a phone interview.

“We are excited about continuing with the Chiefs,” agent Alonzo Shavers said. “We look forward to contributing to Kansas City’s goal of a Super Bowl.”

While terms of the deal weren’t disclosed, NFLPA records indicate Gordon signed a $645,000 contract.

Prior to the re-signing, Gordon was a restricted free agent.

Gordon joined the Chiefs on Dec. 18, 2013 and appeared in two regular season games, seeing action on special teams in Week 16 against the Indianapolis Colts and recording a catch for 3 yards in Week 17 against the San Diego Chargers.

Gordon, who turns 27 on June 7, was inactive for the Chiefs’ first-round playoff game against the Colts.

Listed at 6-foot-4, 265 pounds, Gordon originally entered the league out of Miami in 2011 as a sixth-round pick (181st overall) of the Oakland Raiders. On his NFL career, Gordon has four catches for 14 yards and a touchdown.

The Chiefs currently have Gordon, Anthony Fasano, Travis Kelce, Sean McGrath and Demetrius Harris at the tight end position.
