KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs list eight players on the initial injury report for Sunday’s game against the St. Louis Rams.

Strong safety Eric Berry (ankle) put in a limited practice Wednesday, but his work didn’t come with the first-team defense.

“We’re just going to gradually get him back in,” coach Andy Reid said after the morning walk-through. “He’ll do some work on the scout team again just to see like he did last week just to see where he’s at and keep taking steps forward without any steps backward.”

Berry has missed four straight games since suffering the high ankle sprain injury in Week 2. He attempted to return last week, but missed the final two days of practice.

Tight end Travis Kelce (ribs) and cornerback Sean Smith (groin) joined Berry as limited participants in practice.

Wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin), wide receiver Junior Hemingway (hamstring) and cornerback Chris Owens (knee) did not practice.

Avery underwent sports hernia surgery on Oct. 3 and hasn’t played or practiced since. The Chiefs have already ruled him out, according to the injury report.

The Chiefs list running back Cyrus Gray (hand) and outside linebacker Justin Houston (ankle) as full participants in Wednesday’s practice.

Of note, running back Jamaal Charles is not listed on the injury report.
