WR Sammy Watkins Questionable for Chiefs against Rams on Monday night

Matt Derrick November 17, 2018

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Chiefs entered this week hopeful to have wide receiver Sammy Watkins back for their Monday night showdown at the Los Angeles Rams, but after testing his sore foot on Thursday and sitting out practice Friday and Saturday, Watkins remains a game-time decision.

The club listed him as questionable on the final injury report of the week, but head coach Andy Reid said the team continues taking Watkins' injury day-by-day.

"He was testing it out and we just kind of felt like he needed to back off and just let it rest here a little bit," Reid said. "We'll see. Everyday it's gotten a little bit better, that's a plus."

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes appeared on the injury report with a foot injury, but was a full participant during all three practices this week.

"He's been fine," Reid said.

Linebacker Anthony Hitchens, who sat out last week's game with bruised ribs, practiced in full this week and carries no injury tag heading into the game.

Center Mitch Morse (concussion) has been ruled out, making it a fifth-straight game for the Chiefs without their veteran center. Safety Eric Berry (heel) remains doubtful.

The Rams enter the game relatively injury free. The club provided time off from practice to several veteran this week, including running back Todd Gurley and kicker Greg Zuerlein.

Only wide receiver Cooper Kupp appears on the team's practice report with an injury. He suffered a season-ending torn ACL last Sunday, but the club has yet to move him to injured reserve. Wide receiver Pharoh Cooper started practicing with the team this week while on injured reserve and expects to replace Kupp on the roster at some point.
