KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Wide receiver Donnie Avery will make his return to action Sunday night against the Denver Broncos.
Avery missed the previous seven games after undergoing a sports hernia procedure in early October.
Cornerback Chris Owens (knee) returns after missing the last two games.
The Chiefs list as inactive quarterback Aaron Murray, cornerback Jamell Fleming (hamstring), center Eric Kush, offensive lineman Laurent Duvernay-Tardif, wide receiver Junior Hemingway (concussion), tight end Phillip Supernaw and defensive lineman Nick Williams.
Fleming will miss his fifth straight game after suffering his injury in Week 8 against the St. Louis Rams.
The Chiefs will likely start rookie cornerback Phillip Gaines at left cornerback with Owens resuming his role as the nickel cornerback.
Murray and Duvernay-Tardif have yet to be active this season.
Notable Broncos not playing Sunday night are tight end Julius Thomas (ankle) and cornerback Aqib Talib (hamstring).
