WR Albert Wilson limited to warming up on second day of minicamp

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs wide receiver Albert Wilson returned to the practice field Wednesday after sitting out the first day of mandatory minicamp.

Wilson, however, was limited to the warm-up portion of practice and did not participate in team-related drills.

The second-year pro originally suffered a hamstring strain on June 3 during organized team activities, and the Chiefs have taken it easy on him since.

Inside linebacker Derrick Johnson (knee) and defensive tackle Dontari Poe (back) participated fully for a second straight day of practice after missing a good portion of organized team activities.

Running back Cyrus Gray (knee) continues to participate in warm-ups without his helmet, but not practice while he recovers from last season’s ACL injury.

Quarterback Tyler Bray (knee) was not present on the field during the warm-up portion, but eventually showed up without his helmet during team-related drills. Bray, who did not practice, is still recovering from a late January surgery to repair the ACL in his left knee.

Guard Marcus Reed, whom the Chiefs claimed off waivers Tuesday, practiced and is wearing No. 62.

Outside linebacker Justin Houtson, who has yet to sign his franchise tender, was not present Wednesday, along with tight end Demetrius Harris (foot), cornerback De’Vante Bausby (clavicle) and strong safety Eric Berry (illness).

Wide receiver Jeret Smith attended Wednesday’s minicamp on a tryout basis, joining wide receiver Kealoha Pilares, cornerback Kenneth Penny and offensive lineman Derek Dennis from Tuesday’s minicamp.

Smith, who played collegiately at McMurray, also attended the rookie minicamp on a tryout basis.

The Chiefs wrap up the three-day minicamp Thursday.
