KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs list 14 players on the initial injury report for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

Running back Jamaal Charles headlines the list with a back injury, but it doesn’t appear serious when considering the Chiefs list him as a full participant.

Quarterback Alex Smith (right shoulder) also put in a full practice, and Smith said he’s fine during his Wednesday media locker room session.

“The last two days have been great,” Smith said. “I feel like I’ve gotten great work in, so I expect the same today.”

Smith was observed throwing the football during the portion of practice open to the media. He appeared to throw with no limitations.

The Chiefs also list the following as full participants in practice: tight end Anthony Fasano (shoulder), cornerback Phillip Gaines (quadricep), running back Cyrus Gray (hand), wide receiver Junior Hemingway (hamstring), guard Mike McGlynn (foot) and cornerback Sean Smith (groin).

Meanwhile, cornerback Jamell Fleming (hamstring) and linebacker Josh Martin (hamstring) did not practice after suffering their respective injuries in Week 8.

Marcus Cooper will likely return to the starting lineup at left cornerback if Fleming is unavailable Sunday.

The Chiefs list strong safety Eric Berry (ankle) as a limited participant. Berry has missed five straight games since suffering the high ankle sprain in Week 2.

Tight end Travis Kelce (ribs) and cornerback Chris Owens (knee) were also limited. Kelce should be fine, and Owens on the practice field offers optimism he is close to returning since suffering the knee injury in Week 5.

“We will ease Chris Owens back in and see how he feels,” coach Andy Reid said.

The Chiefs have ruled wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin) out for Sunday’s game. Avery hasn’t played since undergoing sports hernia surgery on Oct. 3.

The Jets list 15 players on the injury report.

Notable players include starting linebacker David Harris (shoulder, limited practice), wide receiver Eric Decker (hamstring, full practice) and running back Chris Johnson (ankle, full practice).
