KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs have good news on the final injury report for Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.
Safety Eric Berry (ankle) is listed as probable and will make a return to the playing field for the first time since suffering the high ankle sprain in Week 2.
The Chiefs officially list Berry as a limited participant in Friday’s practice, but the probable designation means there is a “virtual certainty will be available for normal duty.”
The Chiefs also list the following players as probable: Running back Jamaal Charles (back), tight end Anthony Fasano (shoulder), cornerback Phillip Gaines (quadricep), running back Cyrus Gray (hand), wide receiver Junior Hemingway (hamstring), tight end Travis Kelce (ribs), guard Mike McGlynn (foot), quarterback Alex Smith (right shoulder) and cornerback Sean Smith (groin).
Wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin), cornerback Jamell Fleming (hamstring), linebacker Josh Martin (hamstring) and cornerback Chris Owens (knee) are listed as out.
Marcus Cooper will likely return to the starting lineup at left cornerback with Fleming not playing, and Gaines should continue filling in for Owens at the nickel position.
Ron Parker, who started five games in Berry’s place, can also play cornerback.
The Jets list cornerback Darin Walls (calf, knee) as out.
