KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs could have strong safety Eric Berry (ankle) Sunday against the St. Louis Rams.
Berry put in a third straight day of a limited practice and the Chiefs officially list him as questionable, offering a hint of optimism on Berry’s availability.
“He actually looks pretty good and he feels pretty good,” coach Andy Reid. “So we will just see how the next couple days go. I don’t want to say one way or another, that’s why we listed him there. We will just see how it all works out for him.”
Berry hasn’t played since suffering the high ankle sprain in Week 2 against the Denver Broncos. Ron Parker would start again if Berry can’t go.
The Chiefs also list wide receiver Junior Hemingway (hamstring) as questionable. The third-year wide receiver put in a limited practice for the third straight day.
Tight end Travis Kelce (ribs) appears on track to play after putting in a full practice Friday. The second-year tight end practiced on a limited basis the previous two days.
The Chiefs list Kelce, running back Cyrus Gray (hand), linebacker Justin Houston (ankle) and cornerback Sean Smith (groin) as probable.
Wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin) will miss a third straight game since undergoing sports hernia surgery on Oct. 3. Cornerback Chris Owens (knee) misses a second straight game.
With Owens out, Reid indicated the Chiefs will stick with cornerbacks Jamell Fleming and rookie Phillip Gaines in the starting lineup.
“Probably so,” Reid said. “They both played well; they deserve that.”
Fleming replaced Marcus Cooper at left cornerback in Week 7, while Gaines filled in for Owens.
The Rams added kicker Greg Zuerlein to the injury report with an illness. Zuerlein didn’t practice Friday, but is listed as probable.
