Week 7: Wednesday injury report

Week 7: Wednesday injury report

Herbie Teope October 16, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs list 12 players on the initial NFL Injury Report as they prepare for Sunday’s game against the Houston Texans.

Safety Kendrick Lewis did not practice as he recovers from a sprained ankle.

Putting in a limited practice were cornerback Brandon Flowers, who missed Week Six’s game against the Oakland Raiders with a knee injury, and tight end Anthony Fasano (ankle, knee).

Fasano, who hasn’t played since Week Two, indicated Wednesday in the locker room he’s ready to return.

“I’m pretty confident if I don’t have any setbacks,” Fasano said. “It was a frustrating injury that I’m going to have to continue to deal with. I feel like it’s time to try to play with it.”

The Chiefs list left tackle Branden Albert (knee, elbow), guard Jeff Allen (groin, hand), guard Jon Asamoah (knee), wide receiver Donnie Avery (shoulder), tight end Kevin Brock (shoulder), punter Dustin Colquitt (knee), linebacker Dezman Moses (toe), defensive tackle Dontari Poe (ankle) and fullback Anthony Sherman (knee) as full participants.

Of note, Albert’s presence as a full participant is a good sign he’s fine after coming in and out of the lineup twice in Week Six’s 24-7 win against the Raiders.

The same is true of Poe, who also left the game and received attention on the trainer’s table. Poe was able to finish the game.

Meanwhile, Texans starting quarterback Matt Schaub headlines Houston’s initial injury report. Schaub is listed as not practicing with ankle and foot injuries.

The Texans also placed starting strong safety Danieal Manning (knee) and cornerback A.J. Bouye (hamstring) on injured reserve.

Commings update

Rookie safety Sanders Commings, the team’s fifth-round pick of the 2013 NFL Draft, returned to practice today.

The Chiefs placed Commings, who broke his collarbone in training camp, on injured reserve before the start of the regular season with a designation to return.

Commings is now in the three-week window where he’s allowed to practice.
