Week 6: Thursday injury report

Week 6: Thursday injury report

Herbie Teope October 10, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Two of the Chiefs’ top players on both sides of the ball returned to the practice field Thursday after missing Wednesday’s session.

While tight end Anthony Fasano (ankle, knee) and safety Kendrick Lewis (ankle) missed a second straight day, running back Jamaal Charles (toes) and linebacker Justin Houston (concussion) put in a limited practice.

Houston has been cleared to practice, but hasn’t been cleared yet to play Sunday, Chiefs beat writer Terez Paylor of The Kansas City Star reports.

Veteran linebacker Frank Zombo would start if Houston is unavailable.

Meanwhile, also putting in a limited practice are wide receiver Donnie Avery (shoulder) and punter Dustin Colquitt.

Chiefs offensive coordinator Doug Pederson didn’t sound apprehensive over Avery’s availability for Sunday’s game against the Oakland Raiders.

“Donnie is doing well,” Pederson said. “He’s kind of that day-to-day. We fully expect him to be ready Sunday.”

The Chiefs list guard Jeff Allen (groin), right tackle Eric Fisher (concussion), tight end Sean McGrath (knee), linebacker Dezman Moses (toe), offensive lineman Geoff Schwartz (tricep) and fullback Anthony Sherman (knee) as full participants.

Pederson complimented Fisher, saying the rookie is “looking good” and had a good practice on Wednesday despite the missed time from a concussion suffered in Week Four against the New York Giants.

“I’m sure there’s a little rust with him and just getting back out there in the flow of practice and taking live reps,” Pederson said. “He’ll be in the position to be successful on Sunday.”

Moses is a new addition to Thursday’s list after not appearing on Wednesday’s report.
