KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs returned to practice Wednesday afternoon without a starter on defense.
Inside linebacker Josh Mauga (groin, Achilles) did not work out on the field as the Chiefs began preparations for Sunday’s game against the Chicago Bears at Arrowhead Stadium.
Mauga left Week 4’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals in the first quarter and was replaced by rookie Ramik Wilson, who totaled eight tackles.
Wilson would likely draw the start against Chicago if Mauga can’t play.
The Chiefs list second-year wide receiver Albert Wilson (shoulder) as limited. Wilson, who was inactive in Week 4, has been battling the shoulder injury since the end of the preseason.
Starting tight end Travis Kelce (groin, thumb) and backup rookie tight end James O’Shaughnessy (hand) put in a full practice.
The Bears list 13 players on the injury report, including starting quarterback Jay Cutler (hamstring), starting left tackle Kyle Long (back, ankle), starting wide receivers Alshon Jeffery (hamstring) and Eddie Royal (ankle) and starting safety Antrel Rolle (ankle).
Cutler, Long and Jeffery are listed as limited participants, while Royal and Rolle did not practice.
