KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Question marks currently swirl the Kansas City Chiefs secondary as starting cornerbacks Marcus Peters and Phillip Gaines did not practice Thursday.
Gaines tweaked his knee during practice last Friday and again during Sunday’s game against the New York Jets, Reid said earlier this week. Gaines appeared as a limited participant Wednesday before holding him out of practice Thursday.
The team sent Peters home Wednesday with the flu, according to Reid. He remained out of practice again Thursday as well. The team expects to update his availability for Sunday night’s game against Pittsburgh after practice Friday.
Linebacker Tamba Hali rested again Thursday. Offensive lineman Jah Reid (knee/ankle) and running back Charcandrick West (ankle) also remained out of practice.
The Steelers have injury concerns of their own. Starting guard Ramon Foster (chest) remains out of practice, along with backup interior lineman Cody Wallace (knee). The team listed former Kansas State interior lineman B.J. Finney as limited with a finger injury.
The Steelers also practiced without starters safety Robert Golden (hamstring), linebacker Ryan Shazier (knee) and fullback Roosevelt Nix (back).
