Week 3: Wednesday injury report

Week 3: Wednesday injury report

Herbie Teope September 17, 2014

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs list 12 players on the initial injury report for Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins.

Running back Jamaal Charles (ankle) and strong safety Eric Berry (ankle) did not practice.

Neither was a surprise given coach Andy Reid addressed their status following the morning walk-through.

“They both spent a lot of time here yesterday getting work done,” Reid said. “But neither one will practice today, and then we will just see how it goes the rest of this week.”

Of the two, Berry likely has the better chance to get in work as the week progresses. Charles is dealing with a high ankle sprain, which typically takes longer than a week to heal.

The Chiefs list running back/wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas (hamstring) and linebacker Tamba Hali (ankle/knee) as limited participants.

Wednesday marked the first practice for Thomas since he suffered the injury on Sept. 3. The rookie missed the first two games of the season, but appears on track to play Sunday.

“We will ease him in,” Reid said, “but he’s healthy and ready to go.”

The Chiefs list free safety Husain Abdullah (foot/quad), wide receiver Dwayne Bowe (quad), running back Cyrus Gray (foot), wide receiver Frankie Hammond Jr. (shoulder), wide receiver Junior Hemingway (hip), center Eric Kush (shoulder), linebacker Josh Martin (quad/tricep) and wide receiver Albert Wilson (ankle) as full participants.

Meanwhile, the Dolphins list 15 players on the initial injury report, including former Chiefs left tackle Branden Albert (shoulder). Albert addressed the media Wednesday, a good sign he’ll play.
