Week 3: Thursday injury report

Matt Derrick September 22, 2016

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Safety Eric Berry and linebacker Tamba Hali returned to full practice Thursday, a day after the two veterans both missed practice.

Coach Andy Reid described Hali’s absences as part of his normal rest schedule designed to keep him fresher for game action. Berry missed practice with what was described as a swollen knee. The team listed both as full participants.

The Chiefs remained without two offensive lineman. Starting left guard Parker Ehinger (concussion/foot) and backup lineman Jah Reid both missed practice Thursday.

Ehinger sustained a concussion last Wednesday and has yet to return to practice. Reid injured his ankle and knee Sunday against Houston, although he remained in the game.

Running back Jamaal Charles remained listed as a limited participant in practice. The team had no new update on expectations Charles might play Sunday against the New York Jets.

Starting left guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif practiced again in a limited role. Linebacker Sam Barrington returned as a limited participating since suffering a hamstring injury in week one against San Diego.

Jets wide receiver Brandon Marshall did not practice with his team for the second-straight day. The team listed Marshall on its practice report with a foot injury in addition to the knee injury he sustained last week against the Buffalo Bills.

But fellow wide receiver Eric Deck did return to practice on Thursday. The pass-catching duo combined for 12 receptions and 227 yards along with a touchdown against the Bills.

Jets coach Todd Bowles said Wednesday it was too early to tell if Marshall would play Sunday. Decker earlier this week told a New York radio station he would definitely play against the Chiefs.
