Week 2: Thursday injury report

Week 2: Thursday injury report

Herbie Teope September 11, 2014

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Chiefs maintained the status quo Thursday from Wednesday’s injury report.

Guard/tackle Jeff Allen (elbow) and rookie running back/wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas missed a second straight day of practice.

Ryan Harris is next on the depth chart at right tackle if Allen can’t play Sunday against the Denver Broncos, while the Chiefs will likely turn to wide receiver Frankie Hammond Jr. to once again field punts.

Hammond had 47 yards on four returns in Week 1 against the Tennessee Titans.

“We like Frankie and what Frankie did for us last game,” special teams coordinator Dave Toub said Thursday. “He’ll progress, and he’ll improve in this next week.”

Outside linebacker Tamba Hali (ankle, knee) was limited for a second straight day, but the Chiefs won’t push the ninth-year pro in early week practices.

The Chiefs also listed free safety Husain Abdullah (quad), strong safety Eric Berry (quad), wide receiver Dwayne Bowe (quad), cornerback Marcus Cooper (ankle), wide receiver Frankie Hammond Jr. (shoulder), wide receiver Junior Hemingway (hip), center Eric Kush (shoulder), outside linebacker Josh Martin (quad) and wide receiver Albert Wilson (ankle) as full participants for a second straight day.

Meanwhile, the Broncos had one change from Wednesday’s report. Safety David Bruton, who did not practice Wednesday, was a limited participant in Thursday’s practice.

Thurday’s official NFL Injury Report as released by the Chiefs:
