KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Chiefs wide receiver Dwayne Bowe and defensive end Jaye Howard did not practice Wednesday due to the flu.

“We sent them home and got them out of here,” coach Andy Reid said after the morning walkthrough.

Howard is dealing with a shoulder injury in addition to the flu.

Tight end Anthony Fasano (knee) also didn’t practice, but Reid didn’t appear concerned on Fasano’s availability for Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“It’s precautionary measures and we will keep it rolling here,” Reid said.

The Chiefs list running back Jamaal Charles (knee, ankle), outside linebacker Tamba Hali (knee) and inside linebacker Joe Mays (knee) as limited participants.

Kansas City has good news on Wednesday’s report.

Defensive end Allen Bailey (concussion) and rookie cornerback Phillip Gaines (concussion) returned to a full practice.

Bailey has missed two straight games since sustaining his concussion in Week 13, while Gaines did not play in Week 15.

The Chiefs also list guard Zach Fulton (toe), linebacker Josh Mauga (oblique), cornerback Chris Owens (knee) and cornerback Sean Smith (groin) as full participants.

Pittsburgh lists 11 players on its initial report, including seven not practicing.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger headlines the list as not practicing, but he’s designated as “not injury related.”
