Week 16: Thursday injury report

Week 16: Thursday injury report

Herbie Teope December 19, 2013

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Thursday’s injury report for the Chiefs saw no changes to Wednesday’s report, as the team continues to list nine players ahead of Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts.

Also not changing on the report are player statuses.

Starting left tackle Branden Albert (knee), starting outside linebacker Justin Houston (elbow), and wide receiver Dexter McCluster (ankle) are listed as limited for a second straight day.

However, the release of wide receiver/punt returner Chad Hall signals McCluster will be play Sunday, a point special teams coordinator Dave Toub addressed during Thursday’s media session.

“That’s the plan,” Toub said. “We cut Chad yesterday and that’s an indicator that we think Dexter is going to be OK for the game.”

For his part, McCluster said he’s happy for the prospects of playing Sunday after missing Week 15 with an infected ankle.

“I’m excited,” McCluster said during Thursday’s locker room media session. “It was kind of different for me, sitting at home on Sunday watching the game. I support those guys and they really support me. It’s going to be fun getting back out there.”

As for Houston, defensive coordinator Bob Sutton said Houston has worked with the starters.

But it appears the team continues to evaluate Houston’s progress.

“It’s just really day-to-day and drill-to-drill,” Sutton said during his media session. “It’s great to see him back out there, but the thing I really appreciate about Justin is that he is practicing like he is trying to play and that’s what we need him to do and hopefully we can get him in.”

Meanwhile, tight end Anthony Fasano (concussion, knee) and right tackle Eric Fisher (shoulder) put in full practices for a second day.

Also practicing fully are linebacker James-Michael Johnson (shoulder), linebacker Nico Johnson (ankle), tight end Sean McGrath (knee) and cornerback Ron Parker (shoulder).
