Week 12: Wednesday injury report

Week 12: Wednesday injury report

Herbie Teope November 19, 2014

KANSAS CITY, Mo. –Chiefs wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin) will miss a seventh straight game after being ruled out for Thursday night’s game against the Oakland Raiders.

Wide receiver A.J. Jenkins (shoulder) and cornerback Chris Owens (knee) are also out for Week 12.

Avery hasn’t played since undergoing a sports hernia procedure in early October. Jenkins, who started in Avery’s place, will miss a second straight game since suffering his injury in Week 10. Frankie Hammond Jr. will likely draw a second straight start at the split end position.

Owens will also miss a second straight game, meaning the Chiefs are likely to stick with Ron Parker at left cornerback and rookie Phillip Gaines at the nickel position in place of Owens. Gaines (ankle, quad) is listed as probable.

The Chiefs list tight end Anthony Fasano (knee) and cornerback Jamell Fleming (hamstring) as questionable.

Fasano injured his knee in Week 10 and did not play in Week 11. He was limited in practice the past three days.

Tight end Phillip Supernaw would draw snaps behind Travis Kelce if Fasano is unavailable.

Fleming returned to practice Monday for the first time since suffering the hamstring injury in Week 8. He practiced fully Monday and Tuesday before being limited Wednesday.

Right guard Zach Fulton (ankle), outside linebacker Tamba Hali (knee), tight end Travis Kelce (ribs, shoulder), left guard Mike McGlynn (knee) and cornerback Sean Smith (groin) are all probable against Oakland.

Raiders starting quarterback Derek Carr (quad) returned to a full practice Wednesday after being limited the past two days. Carr is officially listed as probable.
