KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Outside linebacker Tamba Hali (knee) was back on the field for the Chiefs practice on Thursday.
Hali missed the Wednesday session in what has become a standard schedule for him as he deals with inflammation on his left knee.
Safety Tyvon Branch (foot) did not practice on Thursday due to the foot injury he suffered in last Sunday’s game in Denver. Branch did work on Wednesday in a limited fashion but was held out of on-field work hours later. Branch has been dealing with foot problems over the last two years.
Cornerback Sean Smith (knee) participated in the Chiefs practice on Thursday and baring any setbacks in the next two days, he should be available for play on Sunday in San Diego. Smith has a right knee contusion and did not practice on Wednesday.
Defensive end Allen Bailey (calf) did not take part in practice on Thursday and it appears he’ll miss his second game with the calf strain suffered in practice last week.
Linebacker Ramik Wilson (ankle) participated in Thursday’s practice on a limited basis and it appears his chance to be active for Sunday’s game in San Diego are diminishing. Wilson suffered knee and ankle injuries on his right leg on October 18 in Minnesota.
Coach Andy Reid previously said Wilson’s knee is fine, but the rookie linebacker is dealing with the dreaded high ankle sprain, which caused him to miss the last three games.
Tight end Travis Kelce (groin) was a full participant in the Chiefs practice on Thursday, and appears set to play against San Diego.
Left guard Ben Grubbs (neck) did not take part in practice and has been ruled out of Sunday’s game in San Diego. He’ll miss a third straight game with an unknown neck injury that he suffered in the October 25 game against Pittsburgh.
Grubbs hasn’t played or practiced since, but Reid indicated Wednesday that the team did not think the injury would end Grubbs season.
In San Diego, the Chargers had four starters who did not practice on Thursday: Wide receiver Malcom Floyd (shoulder), tight end Ladarius Green (ankle), right guard D.J. Fluker (illness) and tight end Antonio Gates (knee). Left guard Orlando Franklin (knee) was a full participant in Thursday’s session and defensive tackle Corey Liuget (foot) and inside linebacker Manti Te’o (ankle) were limited.
