KANSAS CITY, Mo. – It proved a busy day at One Arrowhead Drive, as the Chiefs continued to tinker with personnel a day after setting the league-mandated 53-man roster.
The Chiefs began Sunday with 52 players after trading LB Edgar Jones to Dallas on Saturday night. However, a flurry of activity saw the likes of wide receiver Devon Wylie, a fan favorite during training camp, and former Kansas safety Bradley McDougald gone from the roster.
In total, the Chiefs parted ways with six players and claimed seven from waivers to get back to 53. The team also set the practice squad.
Below are the Chiefs moves, courtesy of the official NFL Transaction Report:
Waived
• TE Kevin Brock
• DB Jalil Brown
• DB Bradley McDougald
• NT Jerrell Powe
• WR Devon Wylie
Notes: Wylie’s fate may have been sealed after he suffered a hamstring injury during the team’s final preseason game. He battled hamstring issues for most of the 2012 season … McDougald being on the list is a surprise after he survived roster cuts on Saturday.
Claimed from waivers
• DB Marcus Cooper from San Francisco
• WR Chad Hall from San Francisco
• DT Jaye Howard from Seattle
• LB James-Michael Johnson from Cleveland
• TE Sean McGrath from Seattle
• LB Dezman Moses from Green Bay
• DB Ron Parker from Seattle
Notes: Hall has familiarity with coach Andy Reid after spending two seasons on the Philadelphia Eagles practice squad (2010-11) … For those keeping score at home, the Chiefs plucked five players from the NFC West (three from Seahawks, two from 49ers).
Termination of vested veterans
• LB Zac Diles
Notes: Diles was second on the depth chart behind starter Derrick Johnson throughout the preseason … The Chiefs opened training camp with three former Kansas State players: Diles, DB Tysyn Hartman and FB Braden Wilson … As of Sunday, all three are gone.
Reserve list
• OL Ricky Henry on Reserve/Injured from Waived/Injured
• TE Tony Moeaki on Reseve/Injured from Waived/Injured
