The Chiefs have made a push into the St. Louis market but TV ratings for the team'
The Chiefs-Charger game drew a 5.4 rating on KMOV, ranking 40th nationally among CBS affiliates, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. The Cowboys-Panthers game on KTVI drew an 8.5 rating. The Chiefs game drew the fifth-highest rating of six games airing in the St. Louis market during Week 1, besting only the 4.4 rating for the Jets-Lions on Monday night.
KMOV plans to continue airing all Chiefs games on CBS for now, station general manager Mike Murphy told The Post-Dispatch.
“They win their first game, that’s ultimately the most important thing,” Murphy said. “A lot of loyalty in sports is built on win and loss record, so it’s nice to see Kansas City coming out of the gate and winning their first game — and actually playing a good game. I think the fan support is built on that. … If you were a Kansas City fan, you were very pleased.”
