KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Whether the Chiefs are deserving of a spot in the postseason is debatable given recent struggles.
What isn’t up for argument, however, is the Chiefs remain alive for a playoff berth as an AFC Wildcard team despite Sunday’s loss, which marked the fourth defeat in the past five games.
The Week 17 scenarios are simple:
• The Chiefs (8-7) must defeat the San Diego Chargers (9-6), and then
• The Baltimore Ravens (9-6) must lose to the Cleveland Browns (7-8), and
• The Houston Texans (8-7) must lose to the Jacksonville Jaguars (3-12).
The Chiefs defeated the Chargers in Week 7 at Qualcomm Stadium, and now host the Chargers at Arrowhead Stadium where the Chiefs are 5-2 on the season.
The Browns gave the Ravens a tough contest in Week 3 before losing 23-21 at home. The Browns travel to Baltimore in Week 17 to play at M&T Bank Stadium where the Ravens are 5-2 in 2014.
The Texans defeated the Jaguars 27-13 in Week 14 in Jacksonville and Week 17’s game will be played at NRG Stadium, formerly Reliant Stadium, in Houston. The Texans are 4-3 at home.
